We are thrilled to share highlights from the Friendship Table commemoration event in Kadugede Village, West Java, hosted in collaboration with the Roem Institute. Kadugede, Indonesia’s first official Bee Village, celebrated this milestone with the unveiling of the Friendship Table—a micro-architectural installation symbolising cross-cultural collaboration and ecological stewardship.
The Bee Village initiative, supported by the village community, dedicates 10 hectares of land for fruit tree cultivation and pollinator-friendly farming. This visionary project integrates sustainable agriculture, local employment opportunities, and ecological education while fostering the health of native pollinators, including Apis dorsata and Apis cerana.
The Friendship Table serves as both a functional space and a symbol of unity, promoting the safe coexistence of honey bees and humans. It was an honour to witness this vibrant community celebrating their commitment to sustainability and the enduring partnership between Roem Institute and Honey Fingers Collective.
Honey Fingers acknowledges First Nations Peoples as the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and keep bees
